The full title of the book is Prisoners of geography: Ten maps that explain everything about the world. It came out in 2015, but it looks like another book came out by Tim Marshall in 2021 concerning 12 maps, but seems to be a book for children.

It was really interesting to see how much of an impact geography has on the economics and politics of a country or a region. Since the book was written in 2015, he could not foresee how the two different Trump administrations would gum up the works of international relations between the United States and many of the countries discussed.

In a way, it seems like the book predicted the land war between Russia and Ukraine, the importance of the Strait of Hormuz to Iran, and the issues between Israel and the Gaza strip. But, those three conflicts have been brewing for a long time, so it isn’t surprising that some conflicts popped up in the last 10 years.
